I know, it's been a while, but I have been concentrating so much on my other blogs that this one has gone to the wayside. However, I have found a quote that just may get me back on track with this blog. Who knows, I may rekindle this fire.

Today's quote comes from a person named Haim Ginott. I will write about it here in a few days time, but until then, here's the quote:

"It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather...I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether the crisis will be escalated or deescalated and a child humanized or dehumanized."

Unfortunately I can't find any information on this person (nor picture) anywhere; but this quote is now hanging in my office area and every center I work out will have this posted in their staff area. This is a great reminder to teachers of what we do.

Starting the USA-The one that gave us the Constitution

At the time of this speech, there seemed to be an impasse with all the delegates in the final wording. Everyone wanting their words, but no one wanting to give in. It was after this speech of his that the motion was finally carried to complete what we know today as the Constitution of the United States of America; by far the best country out there. A government by the people, for the people, and of the people. Not a government that runs the people.

Please remember this; the purpose of our government to serve us, not to run us and our daily lives...as I greatly fear we are headed.

Again, I find it interesting that the first thing that he states we all have in common (thought with shades of differences) is religion. These great men that I am quoting this week were proud of this country. I am proud to belong to this country. Are you?

This is from a very famous speech, mostly for the line. I find it very interesting how hard we try to keep God and religion out of this country today when He was very much in the minds of our Founding Fathers.

I found this quote so great and so defining for my work. I love my job and what I do. If all I made was just enough for a roof over my head and food, I would be greatly please with it. I don't know that many people could say that.

Contrary to popular belief, it was not Ben Weatherstaff in "The Secret Garden" who stated this quote. In the movie, yes he is the one who says it. In the book, it is written as part of the narrative, it is not a quote of any character. I thought perhaps this quote came from some other source in which Frances Hodgson Burnett then used the quote in her infamous book; however I have not found an earlier source than "The Secret Garden". It is, however, one of my favorites:

Yesterday was President's Day! I was looking around at quotes from some of our more memorable Presidents and ran across this quote from Abraham Lincoln. It's a quote that all Presidents can probably relate to
