Lefty Tuesday-Ringo Starr

"Everything government touches turns to crap." as quoted by Ringo Starr, English musician singer, songwriter, actor, also known as Richard Starkey.

Left-handed and a musician; add him to the statistic of lefties who are artistic.

Abraham Lincoln speaks for all the presidents

Yesterday was President's Day! I was looking around at quotes from some of our more memorable Presidents and ran across this quote from Abraham Lincoln. It's a quote that all Presidents can probably relate to

"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference." as quoted by Abraham Lincoln from The Inner Life of Abraham Lincoln: Six Months at the White House by Francis B. Carpenter (Lincoln, Nebraska, University of Nebraska Press, 1995), pp. 258-259.

Quotes from the Candidates-Duncan Hunter

To continue on our quest of quotes from the presidential candidates. When I began this quest, I had a goal to try and find "old quotes". Quotes from before they were candidates. That is really when you find their true desires. Alas, it is difficult. I continue to search, and will bring them to you as they come. However, todays is from the campaign trail:

"We are not going to give the money to aging hippies anymore to desecrate the crucifix or do other strange things," as quoted by California Representative Duncan Hunter, Republican candidate for President

Common Sense

"Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness Positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher." as quoted by Thomas Paine in Common Sense

Today is the date when Common Sense was first anonymously published 232 years ago (1776) in which he paid for the first printing and gained no money from publishing it ever as he donate the copyright to the states.
